Historical retreat description
Ayurveda & Yoga Retreat – Kerala, India
Set off on a unique trip to one of India’s most stunning southern states, Kerala. Blessed with beautiful landscapes, idyllic beaches, and breathtaking emerald backwaters, it’s no surprise that it ranks among “the paradises of the world” and “50 places of a lifetime,” according to National Geographic Traveller Magazine.

Our retreat offers a more relaxed atmosphere in the Palakkad district, situated at the base of the majestic and enchanting Western Ghats at Kairali – The Ayurvedic Healing Village. International recognition for its wellness experience in 2012 reflects the care behind this welcoming setting. Your second home offers contemporary comforts, including a swimming pool, gym and tennis court, surrounded by vast acres of organic Ayurvedic fields and extensive jungle.
During the retreat, you’ll meet with an Ayurvedic doctor who will recommend specific herbs and treatments tailored to your individual needs. You will participate in two ayurvedic therapies each day, along with a steam bath, paired with daily yoga and meditation sessions. You will additionally obtain a personal lifestyle and fitness assessment and discover the ancient Indian healing science through lectures on Ayurveda and cooking in the Ayurvedic tradition.
You will reside in a deluxe villa with air conditioning, allocated based on your Zodiac sign. Every villa features a tranquil stream encircling it and adheres to “Vastu Shastra” (akin to Feng Shui) to foster harmony with nature and the universal energy flow.

Ayurvedic Nutrition is a big focus at the Ayurvedic Healing Village and each meal is an exquisite feast of vegetarian cuisine.

Description of Treatment:
Abhyangam (General therapy): The individual receiving the treatment is positioned on the Droni (a wooden bed specifically designed for the therapy). Two masseuses are positioned on both sides of the individual, spreading herbal oil on the scalp and massaging softly. The treatment proceeds on the neck, ears, shoulders, chest, and back. The individual then lies on their back and the treatment proceeds from shoulders to toes. Throughout the therapy session, the individual reclines on their right side, left side, stomach, then back again, and ultimately in a seated posture. In Ayurvedic tradition, general therapy (Abhyangam) is used to support restful sleep, vitality and healthy skin. These treatments are also a form of preventive healthcare; in brief, they revitalize the body and sustain the physique.

Dhara: The patient rests on a wooden bed in a relaxed posture. A uniquely crafted device is loaded with the therapeutic oil and positioned at a designated elevation. The masseur subsequently moves the device back and forth, allowing the oil to flow steadily and softly over the forehead. The head is subsequently dried with a towel, and oil is reapplied to it. This therapy can be applied to a specific area or the entire body, based on the condition. It encourages renewal and revitalization of the human body and mind, reducing the impact of aging. This is a unique treatment for stress and tension.
Pizhichil: This is among our unique treatments to revitalize the entire body. The recommended medicated oil is used on the scalp and the whole body. During this therapy, the patient reclines on the Droni (a wooden bed specifically created for this use). Next, a section of linen soaked in warm therapeutic oil is pressed onto the patient’s body while it is gently massaged with a slow, light touch. In Ayurveda it is traditionally used to support vitality and well-being, and your physician may include it in care for joint pain and other conditions.
