Thiruvegappura Sankaranarayana Temple

Also Known as Moonnumoorthy temple, this ancient 14th Century temple is built on the banks of Thootha, a tributary of river Bharathapuzha. The temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and Lord Narayana. An exquisite Koothambalam or temple theatre is said to have been added to the building around 15th century.

Meenvallam

Having its origin from the mouth of river Thuppanadu the Meenvallam waterfalls are a hidden treasure of Kerala. This distinct combination of enchanting beauty and scenic splendour is a ten steps waterfall where the water drops down from nearly 20 to 25 feet. The upper eight steps of waterfall are located inside the dense forest while the lower two are accessible to the visitors.

Meenkara

Meenkara is a tourist attraction due to the dam constructed across the Meenkara River which is a sub-tributary of Gayathripuzha which further gets merged into the river Bharathapuzha. The grandeur and the sheer beauty of this dam provide a visual treat to the viewers. It is an ideal picnic destination and has a fish farm and beautiful gardens.

Kanjirapuzha Dam & Garden

Kanjirapuzha Dam is an alluring natural dam which is surrounded by compelling beauty of mountains, cottony clouds and dense evergreen forests. Come to this spot for peace and to fall in love with divine mysticism of nature. The reservoir also has three islands within it and abundance of fishes.

Pothundy

One of the oldest dams in India, Pothundy dam is constructed across the Meenichiladipuzha and Padipuzha rivers. A unique feature of this dam is its core wall which is made with a mixture of jaggery and quick lime. Nemmara Vallengi Vela Festival is a very popular festival which is celebrated on the shores of this earth dam. It’s an ideal destination for a one day trips and picnics. Nearby attractions include Nemmara, Padagiri, Kilakettara and Kollengode.

Mangalam Dam

It a popular spot among tourists and other visitors, and is built across the river Cherukunnath which is a branch of the Mangalam river.
